Let's go fly a kite!

On one of the first days in Utah the weather was very windy so we decided to go to the park and fly some kites. Rex and the kids and Grandma came with us. It was really fun to get the kites up into the air and watch them fly! Even the little kids were able to fly the kites. We only got one kite stuck in the tree!

Our trip to Utah

The first week of April we headed out to Utah for a family vacation. We decided to drive down, which is always a tricky deal with small children! They did surprisingly well, even Wyatt, who does not like to be in his car seat for very long. Part of the fun of driving, for the girls, is getting to stay in a hotel somewhere along the way and swim in the swimming pool. Emma and Savannah were very excited about the whole deal.
We were gone for almost 3 weeks and had lots of fun being with Grandparents, aunts, uncles and especially cousins. We had an Easter egg hunt, rode on the Front runner train in Salt Lake City, Went to the Tree house children's Museum in Ogden, went to the "Living Waters Aquarium in Sandy and petted sting rays, visited "This is the Place State Park", went to grandpa's school, went to Temple Square, ate donuts and so much more! It is always so fun to go and visit everyone!

Taking a Bath!

Wyatt loves baths! more and more the older he gets! He gets so excited when he sees the water and can't wait to get in and splash around! Usually he is the one getting splashed by his sisters,
at least for now, I'm sure that will change!

How Firm a Foundation

In primary this year one of the songs that the kids are learning is "How Firm a Foundation". To help the primary kids learn the song, our music leader had the kids take turns stacking blocks to create a firm foundation for a tower. That was a real hit in our family! The girls have been building towers with their blocks, all the while singing "How Firm a Foundation".

Poor Wyatt is only allowed to watch from a distance because he is a "foundation wrecker"!

Their tower looks a little wobbly, they may need to build a better foundation!

Whatcom Falls Park

We have been out exploring Bellingham again
and have found a new place to walk,
Whatcom falls Park.
There is a very pretty waterfall and creek
and lots of really great trails to walk on.
We took the kids out the other day because
it was a sunny day and not snowing or raining
(it's been a while since we've had one of those days) .
It was sunny but very, very cold! Emma wore 2 coats, Savannah had her ski pants and gloves on and Wyatt was just a speck under all his blankets! Emma loves running the trails and seeing all there is to see. Savannah thinks it would be fun to follow Emma, until she actually has to walk for a little while, then she would rather ride in the stroller.
I just can't believe the beauty of the earth, it is truly breathtaking!
We found a little bend in the creek/river that looks like a good place to go swimming in the summer. There are several worn foot paths to the spot so we are guessing we are not the first to have the idea.
It will be fun to see in the summer.

First day of Dance Class

Emma and Savannah have started a new activity...a dance class.
They are both really excited, especially Savannah because she actually gets to participate and not just watch Emma. They are in different classes but they are the same type of class, a "theatrical dance "class. That means that they sing and dance. Savannah's class is basically her primary class, they are learning a dance to "The bear necessities". Savannah is so funny, she knows the song all the way through and sings it all of the time but when she gets to dance she doesn't sing! They are very cute and funny to watch, you never know what you will get with a bunch of 3 year olds!
Emma's class is learning a dance to "Singing in the Rain". We sing "Singing in the rain" all of the time now! Emma loves to go to class, I think she is more into the dance part of the class, she is always practicing her dance steps, especially the"barbie walk".

President Obama is in our house!

The other day we had an insurance agent come over to our house to talk with us about life insurance. I was upstairs getting ready when Emma came running in and said "Mom, President Obama is in our house!, he is right downstairs!" I said "oh really?" Emma said "He really is mom! right down stairs!" She was so excited and nervous to go down and meet him. They have been talking about President Obama in school and she is really interested in him right now. I finnished getting dressed and went downstairs. I had to laugh when I saw who "President Obama" was. The insurance agent was an African American man who did look a little like President Obama.
Later at dinner we were talking about President Obama when Savanna piped up saying that she didn't like Obama. Mark jokingly asked her if she liked McCain instead. She got all excited and said "yes! I love candy canes! rainbow ones, cherry ones, mint ones..." It was very funny.

Lotion head Savannah

The other night Mark and I were sitting downstairs relaxing, the kids were all in bed and all was quiet and peaceful...or so we thought! Who knew that sweet little Savannah was upstairs, not in bed at all. She came down quietly, when I heard her and turned to see what she needed, I just started laughing. She told us that she needed help washing her hands. She had gotten into the baby lotion and slathered lotion all over. Needless to say, she got more than just her hands washed!

Stimpson Nature Reserve

The other day we decided it would be fun to explore the Stimpson Nature Reserve by our house. We drive by it every day as we take Emma to school and she had been wanting to go hiking. So we bundled up the kids and headed out. It was a foggy, misty day but it was beautiful! It was so nice to walk through the forest, to smell the clean, fresh air. Emma was so excited to run ahead and keep us posted of all the animal sounds she could hear. Savannah was not quite so brave, she spent most of the time holding daddy's hand or riding on his back. Wyatt was happy and content in the back pack, it was his first hiking experience! We didn't get all the way around the loop but it was a fun family adventure anyway. We are so blessed to be able to live in such a beautiful place!
